A fly buzzes over the stained glass window. At the base sits a small pile of insect corpses. Velxori lays naked on the altar, dawn’s light filtered through sanguine red glass, watching the fly slam into the window, again, and again, and again…
“Should I kill it?”
Astarion lifts his head. He sits at the opposite end of the altar, lacing up his boots. In this light, she struggles to distinguish the scars on his back.
“What are you talking about?”
“There.” She lifts a clawed finger. “The poor thing doesn’t know it’s trapped.”
Astarion looks over his shoulder, revealing only half of his face. “Why would I care about some vermin?”
The fly drags its small body over the glass, wings twitching.
“Imagine if it were you. Imagine if your only instinct was to seek out sunlight, but one day, you took a wrong turn and flew into a building. Now you see the light and can’t understand why you can’t reach it. It’s right in front of you, isn’t it? You don’t realize there’s glass in the way that your feeble body can never break. Wouldn’t it be kinder to die?”
The fly stops moving, and the air falls silent.
“…No,” Astarion answers. “Leave it there. It might still find a way out.”

The way he speaks even increases my inner disquiet. He appears so sad, all of a sudden.
“Well, yes, I do. Why?” I return the question.
He waits a few seconds where he almost seems to study me.
“I’ve always wondered, you know, what it must feel like to like someone.” His smile doesn’t reach his eyes.
Tav and Wyll shared a romantic evening together. The next day, the nosy vampire is eager to learn all the dirty details from his travel companion. What starts as a fine evening among friends, turns more and more into a night of intimate confessions up to the point where Tav has to make a choice.
This one-shot is inspired by Astarion's reaction when Tav chooses him over any other companion in Act 2. It made me so emotional, and my mind got to work immediately, weaving a little sweet tale from it.

The Loviatar fanatic Abdirak is an… interesting diversion. He smells overwhelmingly of blood, fresh and old, feverishly sour in a way that delicately wrinkles Astarion's nose.
He doesn't expect it when Eraad agrees to being whipped. He's a big tiefling bastard whose glare makes seasoned veterans stand down. And when he doesn't get his way, he'll just kill until he does. It often works.
So it's… strange to watch him stand there, taking deep strikes from the lash in Abdirak's practiced hand. Willingly. Flinching occasionally but asking for more, demanding more until that wild, bloody mania calcifies in his gaze, the same as Abdirak. They stare at each other in a way that appears only marginally less intimate than the tadpoles linking their minds. [...]
As they make to leave, Astarion watches Eraad slyly rub a hand against the stiff pleats of his kilt. He seems to adjust himself, and Astarion snorts quietly when he realizes that he's been getting off on this. The others either don't notice or are too polite to make it known. Perhaps he's making assumptions. But he's definitely not imagining the little smirk he catches when he and Eraad lock eyes.
