The gods won’t often admit when they are wrong, even when it's bad. Their pride is too important to them. Which is why it was no surprise when a new little one appeared in Olympus and Zeus tampered with her that he sent her away, trying desperately to hide the mistake and hoping that somehow she’ll die before she finds out anything. Desperately hoping that what he did will be her end before she is his end.

Annabeth was not okay.
Her lungs felt razor-slit, every breath dragging in the acid, poisonous air of Tartarus. Her heart smashed against her ribcage like a war drum, but no matter how hard she clutched Percy, no matter how she pressed her wrist harder against Percy’s cracked lips, forcing her blood into his mouth. It dripped down his chin in sluggish, ugly rivulets, the metallic scent heavy in the choking, sulfurous air, it wasn’t enough.
Her seaweed brain, who always burned like the sun even in the deepest nights, who always found a way to smile even when the world was falling apart, the boy who should have been immortal and unyielding as the tides themselves now looked like a corpse. His skin was waxy, ashen, bone-white, and veined faintly blue like a drowned sailor. His chest hitched weakly; Bdump, Bdump, Bdump, and then;

Percy olhou uma última vez para os chalés e as pessoas que se importavam o bastante para vê-los partir e decidiu que sobreviveria. Que depois de salvar sua mãe, voltaria para perto daqueles como ele. Porque aquele mundo mostrou a ele o mais próximo de pertencimento que poderia conquistar e perder isso, esse pouco de normalidade, poderia ser o que o destruiria no fim das contas.
A verdade é que Grover está bem acostumado a lidar com a revolta de Meio-Sangues naquele ponto de sua vida. Aquela poderia ser a primeira missão de Percy, mas Grover sabia muito bem com o que estava lidando. Não cometeria o mesmo erro novamente.
Annabeth respirou fundo e seguiu em frente sem se importar. Porque eram apenas memórias, fantasmas de um passado distante, e ela precisava olhar para o presente e o futuro se quiser sobreviver novamente. Não poderia se permitir a amargura de Luke e a melancolia de Grover, não quando ela tinha tantas ambições.

The Giant war has ended, but it's still fresh in all of the demigods minds. Tartarus left a scar and the many casualties - no, friends and young children who had passed away from a war they should not even have had to fight in - were still on everyone's minds. It's only been a few months, but the injuries from it all were finally starting to heal and the 7, who took it as their responsibility to contact the families of those who had died, have finally made it through the list.
Annabeth has been pushing it off long enough, but she thinks it's time that she finally gets in touch with her father. Two wars have passed and it's painful how quickly someone can lose someone they love, especially for a demigod. Despite the many troubles they have had earlier, she decided that she should at least give it a shot and try to get in touch with her mortal family again.
Naturally Percy goes with her.
