Vale wakes up on an alien ship hurtling through the Hells and being attacked by Githyanki dragon-riders. He has no memories, but he does have a parasitic mindworm, a voice urging him towards violence, and a creeping sense that something has gone horribly wrong. As if that wasn’t already obvious.
Astarion starts his day very strangely. For one, he’s not on the filthy kennel mattress and for another, he’s not being burnt to a crisp under the very bright, but beautiful sunlight. All in all, not a bad end to a kidnapping. Now that he's been given a chance to have his vengeance on his master, and to live a life of his choosing, all Astarion has to do is stay alive and gather allies he can use in his quest to kill Cazador.
