Summary
Set months before the events of Dark Era, Dazai and Chuuya were assigned to solve a series of cases that aim to bring Port Mafia down… and they had to do it with Mori Ougai’s visiting niece, a mysterious ability user.
Dazai Osamu would later refer to these collections of incidents as “The Crimson Summer”. He would never talk about it with anybody, because everyone who could remember that summer had forgotten… except him.
Even Nakahara Chuuya had forgotten, even if it was characteristic of Chuuya to bear grudges.
But of course, this all happened according to Dazai’s plan — that Chuuya should forget about what they shared that summer, his part in the unfortunate events that followed... and most of all, that woman.

This was until 2 weeks before Oda's death, Saki had gone missing. Once Dazai had left to join the ADA, he befriends Ranpo, and soon tells him about his sister. Dazai hadn't much hope or ideas for keeping this child at first, that one being Nakahara Chuuya's child. Any child would be better off without having him as a parent for sure. But hearing Oda's desperate pleas that he had a biological son - and a past connecting him to this Earth for longer - He was shocked.
All the while, little hurt that the man he loved like a brother didn't tell him about these things before. But now seeing Oda's son, and more about his life behind the curtains, he knows that Oda is unequivocally kind to a fault. A saint even. There was no way that he was going to let anyone harm his godson.
So far, Osamu thinks that he's doing a pretty bad job at this 'parenting' thing. But it's been said it takes a village. So maybe it'll take a little longer to get his own feet on the ground once and for all. He finally has something to truly live for and love himself for; family doesn't turn itself on family. Even if Ranpo Edogawa continues to intrigue him.
He can't touch, only look. Or alternatively, Sokoku, Ranpo and Oda have kids and make it everyone's problem. Yet we still love them anyway. Oh and Oda and Ranpo have a kid too, and they're kinda managing but its getting somewhat better.
