Sadayo Kawakami has been working Shinjuku since before the world was reborn, struggling against debt and exploitation. She's eked out an okay life, if one that has her dealing with the best and worst of humanity, because they all want to be wanted. And when she's Becky, they get everything they need. And she gets paid. And she's okay with that.
She's a lot less okay with how the rest of Shinjuku gets treated but what can one whore do about it? Not a whole lot. Not when she has a mountain of debts, a boss who wants everything from her: her time, her body, her obedience. At least all the plants are back and food is available. Food's the only concern gone from living now. The rest isn't.
A Persona 5 AU, set years after the end Ecological Succession featuring Sadayo Kawakami plumbing the hearts of the evil and wielding the power of the Archetype to do so. A fic focusing on the dignity of labor in a world that should be post-scarcity, the clawing grip of capitalism and how it won't go peacefully, and that everyone should have a chance to have affection in their lives, regardless of cirumstance.

Akira is called back to Tokyo for summer vacation plans with Ann and their Phantom Thieves family. Only things don't go as expected when they find that the Metaverse has returned and random changes of heart have been happening all over the country. And a strange cop wants to cut a deal with the gang to find out why.
Warning: The source material for this story contains some subject matters I am not accustomed to writing. Many of these things are unavoidable, as they are necessary for story context. There is a more complete warning inside, should you need it. Heavy swearing is involved and some mature themes, but no smut will be added.

Summary
The last thing Ryuji wants to do is upend his life and move to a new city in the middle of highschool, but after being arrested for trying to defend his mom from her deadbeat ex-husband, he doesn’t really have a choice. Mom says they both need a fresh start, and Ryuji figures he might as well give Tokyo a chance.
Life in the big city ends up being even more crazy that he expects, when he ends up thrown into the Metaverse on his very first day of school. Someone has to do something about King Kamoshida and it might as well be him.
His second chance is going to be more difficult than he expected, but he wouldn’t change it for the world.

This is my contribution to Ryukoto Week 2025.
Day 7: Free Day
For context, this short story is actually canon to a grander narrative, in which Sho Minazuki becomes the protagonist and vice leader, both post-P4 and post-P5S. And here, a new team gets formed, after Ryuji and Makoto decided to become deserters of the Phantom Thieves, as they both felt severely underappreciated, especially Ryuji, and Mako, not being able to leave well-enough alone when it comes to injustices, she decides to yeet herself out of the team, too. Because she is done playing anyone's lapdog, much less Ren's (who had a bit of a downward spiral, after the events of P5, due to PTSD, and society still having found ways to be unkind towards him, even after he cleared his name).
Akechi is the new leader, with Zenkichi being the new "boss", replacing Sojiro, as the head of the new team here, "The Misfits". And yes, there is plenty of unresolved trauma and interpersonal drama to be solved here, but by this point, Ryuji and Makoto are already in a relationship, because she is sick of living in a mold. She just wants to be happy. And Ryuji gives her that feeling, without even trying.
