The snow just kept belting down onto them, there wasn’t anywhere to get even a second of respite from it, even riding near the wagons didn’t help much. Colter was baltic, the temperature seeming to drop with every step they took. He’d never experienced weather like this before, he hoped this would be the last time he ever did. He kind of wished he could have ridden in one of the wagons, his hands and feet were starting to get cold enough to be painful, his limbs strangely numb and almost ticklish. If he’d known they would be travelling into a blizzard he would have put more suitable clothes on, his jacket wasn’t nearly warm enough.'

Summary

But even Arthur knows he can't have the best of both worlds, he enjoys his time with the gang and Eliza while he still can. He fears Dutch's wrath, and for John's safety.

Arthur Morgan had been with the Van der Linde gang for just shy of eight years, and his loyalty to those who gave him refuge and purpose was not to be questioned. After sneaking out of Chicago following havoc they may have inadvertently caused, the gang move from bustling Illinois to the prairie fields of northern Kansas and are in need of money. Looking for honest work to keep his hands clean as a newcomer of the state, Arthur gets a job at Old Stone Ranch, owned by one esteemed but covetous and dour entrepreneur and businessman, Henry Gillis. What Arthur soon learns is that the ranch is a family business set to pass down to Gillis’ eldest child, Mary, who Arthur takes a liking to. As the duo from two different worlds get closer and closer, Arthur is forced to reflect on where his loyalties lie: can he fight and change for the woman he loves despite all odds, or continue giving in to the outlaw life he has been moulded to fit into?

This is the story of how Josiah Trelawny joined the Dutch Vanderlinde Gang and his long and passionate relationship with Arthur Morgan. I based this off of how I and many others feel there is a lot of secret queer communication in the game, especially from characters like Josiah Trelawny. A lot of things from his dialogue is left in mystery. Stuff which Arthur always seems to understand. So what if some of Arthur and Josiah’s interactions in the game play were coded talk referring to more private moments. A long building love story unfolds.
This story will eventually run past Ch. 6 of the game itself. High Honor. -

Chapters with asterisks around them include smut, but they are marked as such within the chapter and can be easily skipped—99% of the smut in this fic have no plot progression so it is purely written and read for fun!
Finally, I’ve written this with time appropriate American states, territories, and habits as I combine the fictional world and map of RDR2 into the real 1800s american west to the best of my ability. Everything written is following the canon story provided to us, nothing challenges fictional hypotheses or fantasy. Thanks for reading!
