Summary
Briar J. Talbot’s life is crumbling around her. Served with divorce papers the night before, she’s spending time in the drunk tank when her brother, Cole, picks her up and whisks her away to his farm in Stardew Valley for a fresh start. Shortly after her move, her health spirals, and she can no longer ignore the distant memory of the magic she had as a child. It’s back, but there’s one tiny issue: It’s completely erratic, and it's wreaking havoc.
Shane’s life is similarly in shambles following the death of his friends. After a suicide attempt and ninety days in rehab, he’s trying to put his life back together and make things right when he runs into his estranged childhood best friend, Briar. The two of them pick up where they left off, and that’s when the feelings resurface.
Through a renewed friendship and tentative romance, the pair seeks answers for Briar’s magic woes from the wizard, Rasmodius, in exchange for doing his bidding. The only problem? He has a god complex the size of the Gem Sea and a penchant for sending Briar on dangerous missions.
