Up until this point, Nico has shown clear interest in both Will and Jason, and the son of Zeus really thought he would have been picked over Solace, he really did. All those tender moments, soft spoken words, heartfelt love…Meant nothing to di Angelo!?
After he came safe and sound from Tartarus, clinging into his ‘boyfriend’, Jason proudly announced a fight. If this is how he disrespected the son of Zeus, he shall pay.

Nico nodded, still gripping Will’s flannel. But he didn’t say anything.
“A year,” he finally muttered.
“A year. It’ll feel like an instant once it’s over.”
“But we have to get through it to start,” Nico said.
Will bit his lip.
“And we will.”
When they pulled away, Nico was memorizing every line, every freckle on Will’s face. The way the sun was hitting him at just the right angle, the roaring waves of the ocean reflected in his eyes. A year until he could hold him like he was doing.
For a split second, Nico wanted to tell him to not go, that he was joking and they should still be together. And for that second, he lived in the fantasy where he didn’t watch the car drive off. But in the reality he lived in, Will pulled away, his touch disappearing from his grasp for a possible last time right after he pressed one final kiss to his lips. When Will got into the car, it was like they were now strangers.
