It's been twenty years since the Shadow Curse was lifted. Halsin is proud of what he has built. Astarion and Tav visit frequently.
Over the years, Halsin has developed a particular...relationship with a certain drow from their past. She currently has him at her mercy. Halsin wouldn't have it any other way.
With Tav and Astarion set to arrive in a few days, a plan is set in motion to drive Halsin to the edge.
Set after the events of BG3 and also after the events of The Crown of Madness.

He was fairly certain that if it hadn’t been for him, when they’d first passed through Sharess’ Caress, she would have taken one of the twins up on their offer of a free ride. There was something beautifully simple about the way Tav liked sex. And Astarion knew himself to be many, many things, but he could never be simple. How could he not want her to have that again?
Astarion goes back to Sharess' Caress to make sure Tav can have what he wasn't ready to give her before. After all, everything's changed now that he's free, and they understand each other so much better now. It should all be fine. Shouldn't it?

If that is the case, the bard is unsure if she can be called a person. Names are like a job title to her, like gauze, like a hat: something fictional, disposable, and a prop.
Jane Doe, Zoe De Schanel, Jessica Day, Summer Finn, and many more have come and gone for The Bard.
She honestly cannot even be sure if she can refer to herself as “The Bard”. Does she have the abilities of one? Yes, but rarely are her original works received well and even more rarely is she a capable spellcaster. All she really has is a tongue she dipped in silver and an uncanny ability to pump out paintings at lightning speed.She is incredibly ill equiped for adventure but keeps fucking getting tossed into it. Again and again and again.

They're happy together, and Halsin considers both how he got to be so lucky but also what he wants to do in the future.
