Summary
The Company of Thorin Oakenshield continues their perilous journey eastward, accompanied by El’úvian, an elf whose fate is now bound to theirs. Having left the safety of Beorn’s hall, they venture into the dark and treacherous depths of Mirkwood. The forest tests their endurance with illusions, hunger, and despair, until they are captured by the Woodland Elves and brought before their king, Thranduil. Tensions rise between Thorin and the Elvenking, while El’úvian herself struggles with the weight of being among her kin yet not truly belonging, her sharp exchanges with Thranduil leaving their bond strained.
Through wit and daring, the Company escapes in barrels down the Forest River, finally reaching the Lake-town of Esgaroth. Though weary, they are welcomed by the townsfolk, who place their hopes in Thorin’s quest to reclaim Erebor. It is here that El’úvian’s presence grows more vital, as she tends to the wounded and lends quiet strength to the weary travelers. But the shadow of the dragon still looms, and the journey to the Lonely Mountain is far from over.

Dalen is the stalwart, half-dwarven member of Thorin's company. He's deadly with a blade and strives to prove he is every bit as dwarven as the rest. There's more to him than meets the eye but will Thorin open his enough to see it?
During this rewrite of the Hobbit, I want to add more context and in-between scenes to really flesh out the story. This will likely take me a while to complete/to get the hang of fic-writing but I hope you enjoy it!
P.S. The POV will change at times, be warned. I will edit this piece another time.

Bilbo Baggins is much more competent than any of these 13 dwarrow know, much more so than even Gandalf knows. When Gandalf explains the quest these dwarrow are going on, Bilbo knows that they will absolutely muck it up. Someone needs to watch out for them, and if a Hobbit needs to be the babysitter than so be it!
None of the dwarrow know just how capable this Hobbit is when they leave his door, and they’ve barely begun their journey and Bilbo’s already proven his worth just a few days in! Who knew such a small creature could hold so much knowledge?
Even Thorin Oakenshield was grudgingly impressed.
None of them need to know that Bilbo is babysitting them, and if he grows to love them all as family (and maybe a couple as something else) than that’s nobody’s business but his own!
