Tintin finds himself unable to deal with his life, which isn't like him, even with the trauma he's suffered as a journalist and an adventurer. And that something's come right back up, now at 30 years old, that he's had to force shut so many times, but a particular self-inflicted incident forces it to break the surface for him to deal with it. A particular experience that feels somehow more harrowing and disturbing than anything else in his life, that it's been so predominantly blacked out in his mind and practically secret even to him. He has his own horrifying suspicions, but even if he knew the full truth of what happened, would those close to him believe him at all?
He may not want to face it, but in the end, something will make him regardless. He just hopes that when he has to, he hopes the captain will be waiting for him on the other side when he finally finds out the truth all these years later.

He treasured the calmer, smoother moments in his life because he knew how quick they would be snatched away from him. And meeting someone who he could be intimate with in many ways opened up a chance as another release from the pressure; it should've been so simple. It should've been so safe. He should've been so safe.
