My hands quickly go to my throat and I desperately claw at it like it would somehow give me the air I needed. I open my mouth to scream but I’m met with a muffled noise that nobody would hear no matter how loud I tried. My eyes close and I feel my body sink down. The water doesn’t seem to have an end to it. All I can remember is being upset with someone. I don’t remember who, but I was upset with them. Maybe that's how I got here. One day I’ll get my emotions in check. Well, actually no, I probably won’t since I’m drowning.

Ragatha and Kinger are holding everyone together by a thread, Gangle is lonely, Zooble is losing all hope she still has, and Jax has long given up, making life all the worse for all of them. Kaufmo abstracting was just the catalyst to make everything worse. And thrown into the circus, with its ringmaster losing even more of his mind, Pomni accidentally becomes somewhat of a begrudging savior for all of them, but especially Jax, who really doesn't deserve it.

Pomni sighed at the debrief, already guessing who ‘Micheal’ was supposed to be. Did Caine really put them in an arranged marriage? That feels like a fanfiction trope. Jax’s horrified expression told her she guessed right, and although most of her was just glad he didn’t try attacking her himself, she found a part of herself loving this situation.
