A wave of guilt crashed against Gale as he walked home. It was barely their first day together and he already brought so much danger to Astarion. He could only hope that this wouldn’t happen again, but knowing his line of work, it was highly unlikely. How much longer could he hide this?
That wasn’t a question he wanted an answer to. It had to be forever; Astarion could never see the blood on his hands.
The entire time Astarion cleaned the blood and mess in the room, his heart was hammering, ears twitching at any sound that might be Gale walking in. Guilt kept trying to worm its way into his head. Not even one day and already he was proving to be a massive danger to Gale. No, there was nothing he could do about it now. He needed to focus, he needed to hide this.

First, there was Ves—a half-drow bard hopelessly in love with Gale Dekarios, the wizard from Waterdeep. Their bond, born of shared trials across the Sword Coast, was unbreakable. So deeply did Ves love Gale that he sacrificed everything, even his mortal life, to remain by his side.
Now, as Moonshadow, God of the Eclipse, he is Gale’s divine partner, yet feels like a shadow in the path of Gale’s relentless ambition. Ascension has become a burden, and Moonshadow longs for the simplicity of his mortal life—of simply being Ves, Gale’s lover, free of celestial duties.

Astarion focuses on kissing Wyll deeply as they stumble to their room. Various armor pieces lay scattered in the floor in various stages of cleanliness. The room smells of blood and leather. Gale makes a hand motion to conjure up a flame and lights the candles with it.
His lovers are beautiful in candlelight. They're objectively beautiful everywhere, of course, but seeing them in light after the darkness of the Shadow-Cursed Lands is so novel each time.
The golden rings in Wyll's locs glitter. Wyll beams as Gale kisses along his neck, ghosting over the new puncture marks from tonight's feeding.
It's the wine. It's the alcohol-laced blood. Astarion has no idea why else he would be so content to be here otherwise.
