Three years ago, Reed Richards and Susan Storm got divorced. And it's been fine for the most part, really. Franklin and Valeria are doing well, Sue has a fantastic new job at STARK Industries, and Reed... well, Reed didn't want his kids to have to fly across the country every few months just to visit him, so he got himself another professor job at Empire State University and moved to NYC too. Even if part of him thought---still thinks---that the kids and Sue would be better off without him in the picture at all.
And then, a few weeks into his new job, Reed figures out that Victor von Doom---his old college roommate, a genius scientist and inventor, a prolific Latverian politician, and his ex-boyfriend---is a research professor at ESU too. One that probably hates him, or did the last time they saw each other, at least. He decides the best course of action is to avoid Victor like the plague.
And then his nine-year-old daughter Valeria wanders into the physics department basement and befriends twelve-year-old Kristoff, Victor von Doom's adopted son.
Shenanigans ensue. >:)
