When the Batfam fights Darkseid, Bruce is hit with his beams. He vaporises on the spot. Damian, who shouldn't even be there, freaks out and runs into the field. Tim protects him from the worst but he, too, gets hit by a stray beam. He falls into a coma. The Batfam refuses to be lead by Dick, and everyone except Steph and Alfred leave.
When Damian wakes up, he's four instead of ten.
Tim goes to find Bruce, but in this one he takes a lot longer. When they all come back, Damian is ten.
Cue confusion of everyone, because what do you mean he was ten when you all left, he only had his tenth birthday last month!

Alfred finds himself left with a little boy to care for. Not just any boy, but a Wayne, destined for greatness like his parents. He does his best to raise him, and it hurts his heart - really it does - but sometimes that means discipline.
Bruce knows he’s not good. Well aware that he deserved what Alfred gave him when he was a child. But now that he has children of his own, Bruce can’t fathom disciplining them like he was.That doesn’t mean Alfred was wrong to inflict those punishments on Bruce. Bruce deserved it. Just not his kids.

Damian Wayne is upset.
He has a lot in his head, a whole lot of repressed emotions and anger he can't put in words, so many things he misses, wants, yet can't express.
But Damian Wayne does not let his emotions cloud his judgement. He doesn't let them control him. Ever. So he finds ways to calm the bristling storm inside of him and muffle its cries.
And so Damian Wayne draws. He paints memories, wishes, emotions. His hand conveys what his mouth cannot.
And when they get too heavy for his hands, Damian Wayne runs.
Across rooftops, on walls, fighting crime in Gotham. He grapples down buildings at top speed, almost flying. Because when he flies Damian does not think. He is free.
Jason once said Robin gave him magic.
Robin didn't give Damian magic, it gave him a purpose. And it gave him wings.And his father had the audacity to take them away.
A fic in an alternate universe within DC where Damian is neglected after Dick leaves. He is often alone in the manor, lonely and feels like he doesn’t belong.
The universe is quick to show him wrong, as usual.

Either way, Damian sat as a lone image on that rooftop. Out of sight and out of mind. As the wind came rushing by once more, Damian let his body tilt into the gust of wind, tipping dangerously over the edge of the building. Though, he didn't allow himself to fall to his death. Managing to swing back up after grabbing hold, only the shortest feeling of weightlessness filled his body before he got himself back up onto the rooftop.
Now standing facing away from the city. Damian looked at the ruins of the building's rooftop. Considering the darkness held within the boundaries of the buildings four walls. Cracked and broken, visibly damaged even as it continued to try to hold itself together. Behind him on the horizon, the sun begun to rise in earnest. However, Damian couldn't watch it's rise.

Damian's only been in Gotham for a short while and he's found nothing but grief. There's a destiny laid out for Damian that he feels he'll inevitably walk towards. Fate though, might not be so set in stone. Displaced, Damian finds himself thrust into opportunities to fix things or to die trying.

He mentally checks himself, making sure his mask is in his possession as he takes a step back and looks down in time to see a few pecks of dirt dislodge from the edge of the cliff and fall , down, down, down into cold icey winter water.
They take a step forward, Red Hood twitches and his hands raise subconsciously. Almost as to put them out in peace offering or an attempt to stop Damian from jumping , which Hood can’t do.
“Kid.” Nightwing. Tries to coax him into smoothness, into relax . Damian knows better than to sway to soft spoken words , especially his name . His mother would do the same but the outcome would be treacherous several almost fatal wounds and days without getting fed. So no he does nothing but glare at Nightwing. -
