Just as he wanted to open the door a heavy hand grabbed his shoulder. He supressed the urge to fight back and let Bucky push him against the door. As the vibranium hand came to rest on his throat, Zemo was no longer able to pretend to be unaffected. A low moan left his lips before he could stop himself. Additionally, he was quite sure, that Bucky was able to see the arousal in his eyes.
Bucky looked shocked. “You want this,” he whispered.
“I told you,” Zemo responded. His voice was raspier than he had thought.
“Why?” Bucky demanded.
Because you are the most magnificent man I’ve ever met, Zemo thought.Zemo offers Bucky an unusual apology after their encounter with Selby in Madripoor.

James Barnes woke in a strangled cry, chest heaving, ragged gasps.
“Zemo,” James choked. “It’s not been me. The Soldier - he’s been here. He’s been living as me. He’s tapped your phone, email, everything. Get help - Sam, Wakanda, anybody - he wants to raise Hydra from the ashes!”
Zemo stroked his shoulder, soothing. “It is only a night terror, darling. You are safe. Here, with me.”
But James only clung harder, eyes wild. “No, no. It’s him. I'm not strong enough, he might hurt you.."
Zemo soothed him back to sleep, dismissing the echoes of old trauma. He would notice if the Winter Soldier had taken his husband’s place. Wouldn’t he?

2015 through 2016. Many months after Zemo's defeat in Siberia, the Avengers have found a way to move forward. Bucky and Alia have fully-transitioned to life in New York at the tower, and Pietro & Wanda Maximoff have made progress in their own rehabilitation under the watchful eyes of Steve, Sam and Natasha. Thor prepares to take Loki's sceptre back to Asgard, with Tony and Bruce stewing in their seeming-failure to utilize the knowledge gleaned from it to realize their secretive Ultron project. Little do they know, they actually succeeded...
...And the chain of events their success kicks off will prove to be the catalyst that ultimately rips the Avengers apart, once and for all.
Peace is at its most fragile, after all, when everyone believes it is already secure.

Bucky tries to focus his hazy vision and when it clears, he sees Zemo standing over the obliterated body of a large man. There is blood everywhere. On the walls and the ceiling of this sterile, little, windowless cell. Bathed in harsh fluorescent light Zemo is absolutely drenched in blood, and it drips off him in steady streams. Bucky forces his weak legs to move him forward into the cell and is hit by another scent, the stench of an alpha in pre-rut. The same burning gasoline smell that he followed here. Bucky understands instantly what happened here. HYDRA sent some fucking alpha piece of shit to rape Zemo. Maybe even force a bond to be even more sadistic. But it seems that Zemo has fought back and won. Bucky is so impressed with this that he nearly comes in his tactical pants at the very thought of Zemo competently defending himself. But should he really be surprised? Zemo is a soldier after all. He may be an omega, but that had never hindered his mad plans before.
