That day was especially hard for Kris. It was full of anguish, physical pain, and a lot of fear. He faced a titan, spent the whole day with an old man who was dead, saw how his friend Susie found out about the prophecy and how it affected her, and not only her, but Ralsei as well.
All he wanted to do was get home and sleep after such a hard day. But the soul, which had also had a hard day, had other plans.

“...It’s loud,” is what Susie finally settles on, in lieu of any of that. Kris’ eye disappears back beneath their fringe, but they nod, finally drawing their hands from their pockets. Susie takes in a deep breath, then lets it out. “Well, no point in standing around out here while it’s raining, huh? You wanna find somewhere to set up camp for the night?”
Reliably, Kris doesn’t have much reaction to the suggestion. They tilt their head slowly, lips pressed together in what comes across to Susie as a more thoughtful look than anything. She breathes out, again. It’s easier not to dwell on her thoughts while they’re right here in front of her… Even if Susie had sort of needed the space to clear her head, she’s more relieved than anything to see them. And maybe a little relieved, too, that they seem so unhappy about this—even if Susie shouldn’t be glad that they’re also disappointed, it—well, it makes her feel a little less alone. Kris has a way of doing that.
With a soft hum, Kris moves past Susie and starts walking, mind clearly made up.

With Toriel and Sans making so much noise in the living room, Susie and Kris return to their castle town to sleep.

Ralsei shifts his weight, and he tugs at his ear, and Susie waits for as long as she can (because sometimes having friends means doing difficult things, like sitting here in silence and watching a nerd fidget like he has to piss) before she finally gets tired of it and nudges his ankle with the toe of her boot.
“Come on, it can’t be that complicated.”
“It’s just an embarrassing question,” Ralsei clarifies. He tugs his ear over his mouth, but it’s not quite large enough to disguise the bits of pink that poke through his fur, so white it’s practically translucent in places. Sometimes, back in their castle town, the buildings will glow green, and Ralsei will turn the same colour, like he just guzzled an entire vat of battery acid. “...Do you have dreams, Susie?”
Sounding suspiciously like a career guidance class all of a sudden. “Like what kind of dreams.”

Whatever. They don't need to be a part of this bullshit. At least Berdly is just as confused as to what the hell is going on with their project partners.
