Summary
They should all be dealing with things. Talking about their grief and wanting to move forward.
They obviously don’t do any of that.
Chris stays stuck on the events that caused him to move.
Eddie doesn’t know who he is.
Buck can’t stop falling apart.
Or what if this was a storyline after Bobby died. Everyone trying their best to heal, just hoping it happens without trying.

Summary
“I’m in love with Hen.” Buck's voice carried the earnest conviction of someone who thought he’d just solved the meaning of life.
The pizza slid from Chimney’s hand and hit the floor, cheese-side down with a tragic plop.
Chimney barely even noticed.
What the actual hell had he just heard?
With Ravi officially tapped out of listening to any more rants about the state of his friendship with Eddie, Buck turns to the one audience guaranteed not to judge him — his baby nephew.
Under Baby Nash’s unflinching, drooly wisdom, Buck stumbles (in a roundabout way) into a long-overdue breakthrough: he’s in love with Eddie — though it’s not like Buck can do anything about it, because Eddie is straight. Right?
Buck’s big plan to pretend the whole thing never happened falls apart the second Chimney hears every word over the baby monitor.
Chimney knows better than to meddle. He really does. But for the sake of his brother-in-law’s sanity and the station’s peace, he hatches a plan to figure out if maybe, just maybe, Eddie might feel the same.
Naturally, of course, with Chimney involved, things don’t quite go according to plan.

Summary
Eddie can’t even remember the last time they spent the whole day together without being on shift. But maybe there is a way to get Buck to stay with him for a whole day. Chris is too big to use as an excuse but –
An idea begins to form in his head.
Fuck it.
“Hey, Chim,” Eddie says, turning his attention to their new captain.
“Mh?”
“Buck and I have a present for you!”
“For me?” “We do?” Chim and Buck ask at the same time.
“Our present for you is a day off from parent duty. You and Maddie can do whatever you want to celebrate Captain Han and we will babysit the kids,” Eddie explains with a smile.
From the corner of his eye he can see how Buck cocks his head for a moment before his smile returns in full force as he hugs Jee-Yun closer to his body. “Do you hear that, Jee Jee? You’re getting a whole day of uncle Buck and uncle Eddie time. Isn’t that exciting?”
Or a post 9x01 fic in which a baby monitor and a overheard love confession might just give Eddie everything he's ever wanted.

Summary
Eddie Diaz was going to solve climate change all on his own just to put an end to the L.A heatwave.
It wasn’t that Eddie was a stranger to heat. He had grown up in Texas after all and had fought a war in a desert. Heat was something that Eddie was used to. No, what Eddie was struggling with was the sight of his shirtless best friend, holding a baby as he stood under the spray of a sprinkler, the water dripping down his exposed chest, soaking his board shorts, and slipping down his long, long, legs.
OR
Just as Eddie realizes his feelings for Buck, there's a heatwave.

Summary
He found Maddie in the kitchen, boiling water for tea. It was another part of the ritual. Sometimes they talked about what Buck had been telling Robbie, but most of the time they just caught up. Talked about work. Talked about Buck’s new place.
“You don’t like to fly,” Maddie said, making a questioning face.
Buck ducked his head. “I don’t.”
“Buck,” Maddie said. “Come on. I don’t believe that for a second. And you didn’t want to go to space?”

Summary
“Yeah, yeah, you’re right. I do know why Eddie and I are different. We just…” he trails off and throws his head over his shoulder, making sure the nursery door is closed. Buck confirms that the shadows dancing underneath the door belong to the framed photos along the wall and not Chimney and Maddie before turning back to the baby.
“You promise you won’t tell anyone?” he whispers.
“Ba,” says Baby Robby. Buck takes that as a yes.
“I’m in love with Eddie. I’ve been in love with him for years, actually, but I didn’t realize it until I thought I lost him. He moved away to be with his kid last year and I told myself everything would be fine. He and Chris are together again, we were still best friends despite the distance, and my crush would go away in a couple of months.”
Baby Robby shakes his head, almost as if he’s disagreeing with Buck.OR

Nash frowns, looking confused. “Eddie?”
Maddie nods. “Yeah, that’s Eddie!”
“Eddie!” Nash yells, reaching for Buck. “Eddie!”
