Eddie’s leaving for Indianapolis. Her mom is seeing someone new. Babysitting Dustin is about to be a thing of the past. And the future—whatever that even means for a girl like her—is coming fast. To make things more confusing, somewhere in the middle of it all, Steve Harrington keeps showing up with dumb jokes, soft eyes, and a patience she doesn’t know what to do with.
Then Starcourt Mall opens. Neon lights, minimum wage, and new friendships start pulling everyone back together. But beneath the food court and escalators, something ugly is waking up. Something that makes all the other battles they've fought look harmless. Something that makes the change of growing up feel like the least of Mac's problems.

Next to them, a group of flower heads dangle off of a vine hanging down from the trees. Different to the vines. Those are dark brown, twisted, woody looking. These are smooth and even in the dark there's a wet greenish shine to them. There's faint color on the flower heads too. A clotted blood, bruised sort of red splashed either side of their central protrusions.
Eddie and Jules stumble across a strange kind of flower in the Upside Down. Back right-side up, they're facing the consequences.

Summary
