The night Steve, Nancy, Robin, and Eddie became trapped in The Upside Down following grossing through Watergate, the four stumble upon a strange field of flowers and make them unable to stop from wanting each other. Nearly two hours later, they barely escape alive. In the end Venca is killed, but sadly Eddie Munson loses his life in the process. Here, in the devastating months that follow as Hawkins tries picking up the pieces, they learn that passionate blur of a time, unable to stop themselves from these strange flowers that released their powerful pollen resulted in many consequences...some of which haunt Robin and Steve years afterwards.
