Summary
Mike didn't have self-preservation skills. Not when it came to Will, at least. When it came to Will, he lost control. Didn't think. Didn't wait to act. Just... acted. Acted on impulse, as though he were programmed to defend Will, even though, in most cases, Will was perfectly capable of defending himself.
OR...
mike wheeler (tries) to defend will from bullies, which leads to a confession of very much so NOT UNrequited love

Summary
Mike Wheeler did not fly to New York for “Friendsmas” expecting to hook up with his best friend.
His best friend who he hasn’t seen in person in almost three years. His best friend who he almost certainly fucked everything up with.
He also didn’t expect Will Byers to look that good in knee socks, dance every Friday night at the club, or give the best head of his life.
Now he’s got six days, one meddling Max Mayfield, and Will's annoyingly attractive ex showing up at the door.Time’s ticking. Feelings are happening. God help him.

Summary
Mike physically swoons, knees buckling and all, blinking down at the boy in front of him. Head tilted up, lips cracked into a gentle thing, and still so pretty.
“We should move in together.” He suggests quickly, watching Will’s face contort for a good few seconds.
Then, he glances to the side. Only after a breath passes his lips, his attention returns to Mike. “Um, Mike. We have moved in together.”
“Okay, then,” Mike sighs, willing his mind to process options a little faster. “We should get married.”

Summary
Mike had been staring at Will. Will doesn’t know what to make of that. It obviously doesn’t mean what he would have wished it meant a year ago — that Mike has feelings for him, and only hasn't said anything. That would be a stupid thing to think. And anyways, Mike's been looking at him like that since they were kids. Like his sole purpose was to understand each and every expression Will could make. As if somewhere tucked away in Will’s face, in the corner of his mouth, or the curve of his cheek, the secrets of the universe were hidden.
Or:
Vecna’s gone. The party is alive and well — mostly, at least. Their sophomore year is just around the corner. Teenage drama ensues.

Summary
“Will, c’mon,” El calls from where she and Max are slaving in the summer heat washing Lucas and Mike's cars, “help us out!”
“He’s busy!” Mike protests automatically, though his voice is hesitant.
“Busy? Pfft,” Max scoffs, tossing a soapy sponge from hand to hand, “He’s been standing there like a lawn ornament forever. Hurry up, Will, you can help too, shirt off!”
Mike freezes, heart jabbing upward in panic. Shirt off. Will’s shirt off. Oh no.
Lucas snorts, “Oh, I get it now. That’s their plan, huh? Get Will to take his shirt off so you can… pay extra attention.” His eyes are teasing, devilish, and Mike feels heat rush to his ears.
OR
Your typical summer time car wash scene with Max and El as instigators, Will with the cute (shirtless, duh) boy next door vibes and Mike can't ignore some things about himself any longer.

Summary
It’s hard to focus on preparing for the world ending as you know it when one Mike Wheeler is deciding to be the single most confusing person alive.
There are two things Will Byers has always known: he is in love with Mike Wheeler, and that this love will always remain unrequited. Lately, though, that second one has become a thousand times more confusing.
It started after they returned from California, after Mike and El really ended it, after the Byers and Wheeler households combined. Since then, it’s been like how it once was in middle school. He’s been sweet, and coddling, and touchy. So. touchy. Which is both everything Will has ever wanted and his own personal hell.
So, when Will hears a whisper from Mike’s bed, he knows once he answers, he’ll wish he hadn’t.
------
essentially, a lettergate fic full of late night confessions.

Summary
Following the Byers' departure from California, Will finds himself unable to configure his emotions, both towards himself and Mike.
Inspired by 40 Days, Souvlaki, and other songs by Slowdive
--
He thought that when he returned —if he returned—he would feel better surrounded by his mother’s love and in his own bed, protected from the monsters that clawed their way into his nightmares, but they grew invincible in his own mind. His brain couldn’t protect him, so how could anyone else? He left a burden, tainting the lives of everyone around him forever. He wanted to yell. He wanted to go back in time and stop himself from leaving Mike’s basement. He wanted to become the boy he used to be. But he can’t. He can never know youth again.

Summary
Will found himself staring out his dorm window, watching the clouds in the dark night sky. Then, he realized Mike could be in the same state as him at that moment, looking up at the same sky.
He missed Mike, or at least, the Mike he remembered. The Mike he played D&D with, the Mike he went on bike rides with. He wondered what eighteen-year-old Mike could be doing. He hoped to find him someday.
Little does he know, Mike is closer to him than he thinks.
Or:Will is finally going back to Indiana for college. He's even majoring in his passion and taking an Art History class. Unfortunately his talent also means that he's been selected to tutor an English major that can't analyze a painting to save his life. That English major may also be someone he hasn't seen in eight years.

Summary
“Stop doing that,” He mumbles, then, “What about bacon?”
“Stop what?” Mike whispers back, like a tease, breath fanning. He plants one deliberate kiss, just at Will’s jawline. “This?”
“Mike,” Will pulls in a gentle whine, to which he laughs back at, silent and more like a stuttered breath. “Stop. Bacon?”
“Yes,” He finally pulls back, sliding his hands from the counter, and to Will’s arms. He nods once, sighing. “Bacon is fine. I’ll wake the devil.”

Summary
Will Byers stood in the doorway, still in his slightly too big pajamas passed down from Jonathan. His bowl cut a mess, signifying he had gotten out of bed to answer the door. Thin blanket wrapped around him like a cape, as he dragged it on the floor.
“Hey, you okay?” Mike asked.

Will misses school cause he is sick, Mike can't help being worried about his best friend.

He takes a slow, deep breath in and exhales shakily, like his lungs do not want to let go of the air, as if they know that this may be the last time they get any. He's okay, he thinks to himself. He's okay. Mike's finger twitches against the trigger and images of blood and mangled skin overpower him for a moment. He's okay, right?

Summary
In a galaxy ruled by tradition and colonization, Mike Wheeler of the Solokovs has always been the misfit - a bookworm and a bit of a loser who's been forced into warrior training on the frozen planet of Denorax because he's the backup heir. But when he's appointed to being a diplomat for Denorax instead of a fighter, everything changes, especially when he meets Dhuri.
Dhuri, going by Will behind closed doors, is the first diplomat for his planet Thorara and the native tribe ruling it as well as the youngest diplomat in centuries. He comes bearing warnings of war and threats, but when Mike chooses to align Denorax with Thorara and himself with Will, it begins an alliance like nothing ever seen before - and Mike makes a friend (or perhaps more), which becomes even more important when galactic tensions rise and the two boys and two planets have to rely on each other to survive the storm coming.

Summary
California wasn't the life changing experience he thought it would be but he learned interesting things about himself there. For example, he loved Mike Wheeler. Romantically.

Now, two weeks after the earthquake, Will Byers and everyone he cares for have to face the upcoming end of the world.
This is a story of two boys, one with a broken heart and scary presence crawling in the depths of his mind and another finally coming to terms with the fact he has been unhappy for a while.
(Not beta read, POV changes between Will and Mike.)

Summary
Mike sat with El at the table, enjoying a milkshake. Except his eyes were wondering around the room for Will. He had left a few moments ago from their table but hasn't returned. Not that Mike cared. Until he saw a tall, blonde haired boy standing close to his friend. The two were smiling as they were indulged in conversation. He was too close, Mike didn't like it. "Who's that? With Will?" He asked, trying to hide the hint of bitterness in his tone. "Oh. I dunno." El replied.
or
What happened at rink-o-mania but instead of the El/Angela drama, a cute boy decides to help Will enjoy his forgotten birthday. And Mike, who is still annoyed from their argument moments ago, doesn't like what he's seeing.

Summary
“Mike,” this time Will hoped to convey his eye roll through his tone.
“Will,” he said back, mimicking and with an audible smile.
“Are we just going to spend this entire call saying each other’s names?”
“If it means I get to keep hearing you say my name, I wouldn’t mind,” Mike said, beginning playfully but ending on a much softer note. Will sucked in a breath, surprised at the honesty in his tone. It made him feel raw.
or, as pitched on my tumblr,
Byler college fic post-canon where the party goes different places and it’s centered around Will and his closest friend who is also queer and she despises Mike after hearing about Will pining for him but one day in November, Will has a worse panic attack than usual and she can’t help him and is forced to call Mike and for the first time learns Will went missing and goes home with Will to Hawkins during winter break because her family sucks and learns about the Upside Down and Mike is jealous because he thinks they’re dating and the second the friend sees Mike, she knows she’s right and that Mike is in love with Will too.
